This is the WikiProject banner template used by WikiProject Novels to keep track of articles within its scope.

Basic usage

Place this on the talk page of relevant articles:

Parameters

• class – valid values are fa, a, ga, b, c, start, stub, fl, list, na (case-insensitive). See the project's quality scale for details.
• importance – valid values are: top, high, mid, low, na (case-insensitive). See the project's importance scale for details.
  

Optional parameters

• listas – This parameter, which is the equivalent of the DEFAULTSORT sortkey that should be placed on all biographical articles, is a sortkey for the article talk page (e.g. for Jack Harkness, use |listas=Harkness, Jack so that the talk page will show up in the H's and not the J's of the various assessment and administrative categories). This is important because it is one source used by those who set DEFAULTSORT on the article; consider also setting the DEFAULTSORT for the article when setting this parameter.   It is not required if another WikiProject template on the same page has its own |listas= set, since it not only affects categories used by the banner in which it is set, but it also affects the sortkey of all other banners and templates.
• category – set |category=no if, and only if, a banner is being used for demonstration or testing purposes, to prevent unnecessary or undesirable categorization. Otherwise, omit this parameter.
  

Notes and alerts

• Template:Read parameter name – set |Template:Read parameter name=yes if the article needs immediate attention from experienced editors. Use only if another parameter does not cover the need for attention; this should be used sparingly. It is encouraged to also add a section to the talk page explaining what needs attention.
  • This parameter populates Category:Novels articles needing attention.
• Template:Read parameter name – set |Template:Read parameter name=yes if the article needs an infobox. Remember that infoboxes are not suitable for all articles, and can overwhelm short articles.
  • This parameter populates Category:Novel articles without infoboxes.
• Template:Read parameter name – set |Template:Read parameter name=yes This article has an incomplete infobox template! - see Novels InfoboxCode or Short Story InfoboxCode for a pattern.
  • This parameter populates Category:Novel has incomplete Book infobox.
• Template:Read parameter name – set |Template:Read parameter name=yes This article has an infobox template in need of a Cover! (prefer 1st edition)
  • This parameter populates Category:Novel has infobox needing cover.
    

Taskforces

• Template:Read parameter name – set |Template:Read parameter name=yes if the article is supported by Twilight task force.
  • This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Twilight task force articles by quality based upon the |class= parameter.
  • Template:Read parameter name (only used if |Template:Read parameter name=yes is set; uses the same values as |importance=) – Importance rating within Twilight task force
    • This importance rating populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Twilight task force articles by importance.
• Template:Read parameter name – set |Template:Read parameter name=yes if the article is supported by Rick Riordan task force.
  • This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Rick Riordan task force articles by quality based upon the |class= parameter.
  • Template:Read parameter name (only used if |Template:Read parameter name=yes is set; uses the same values as |importance=) – Importance rating within Rick Riordan task force
    • This importance rating populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Rick Riordan task force articles by importance.
• Template:Read parameter name – set |Template:Read parameter name=yes if the article is supported by His Dark Materials task force.
  • This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:His Dark Materials task force articles by quality based upon the |class= parameter.
  • Template:Read parameter name (only used if |Template:Read parameter name=yes is set; uses the same values as |importance=) – Importance rating within His Dark Materials task force
    • This importance rating populates the relevant subcategory of Category:His Dark Materials task force articles by importance.
• Template:Read parameter name – set |Template:Read parameter name=yes if This template is supported by the Military fiction task force, which deals with Military novel (prose) articles..
  • This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Military fiction task force articles by quality based upon the |class= parameter.
  • Template:Read parameter name (only used if |Template:Read parameter name=yes is set; uses the same values as |importance=) – Importance rating within this taskforce
    • This importance rating populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Military fiction task force articles by importance.
• Template:Read parameter name – set |Template:Read parameter name=yes if the article is supported by the 39 Clues task force.
  • Template:Read parameter name (only used if |Template:Read parameter name=yes is set; uses the same values as |importance=) – Importance rating within the 39 Clues task force
